HMAS Perth's Weapons System Hatch was removed rivet by rivet by Mr Peter Lalor prior to sinking for use as a dive wreck off the coast of King George'e Sound, Albany, Western Australia.
The door was attached to the .50mm calibre machine gun and shielded the gun's magazines.
Peter joined the ship as a Combat Systems Operator and later became the Ship's Diver.
